Exclusive: By Adenike Lucas
A demand for the release of the status report of the Department of State Services, DSS on Ibrahim Mustafa Magu – first requested by this online new site is now being supported by prominent members of the National Assembly.
The editor of this website, Adenike Lucas has been privileged to give an explosive account provided by core staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, showing the corruption carried out by their boss, Mr Magu in his desperate act to be confirmed as the substantive chairman of the commission.
MAGU THE BULLY
A series of reports, detailing a six month investigation, published by DENISAURUS News revealed an ongoing battle between EFCC operatives and their ‘corrupt’ boss, has prevented the issue from dying down.
This website received a tip off about the resignation of five Managerial Core Staff which was later confirmed by other newspapers.
The allegation of bullying made by the commission core staff was expatiated in an article written by Miss Lucas and published by Abubakar Sidiqu Usman in August, 2016.
Unfortunately, this lead to the arrest of Mr Usman http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-37024062
Mr Magu who has now confirmed that there is corruption in the anti-graft agency made the call for Abusidiq’s arrest.
The Editor of DENISAURUS News disclosed an audio tape were a senator’s brother boasted about his relationship with the EFCC acting boss.
LINKS WITH DETAINED AIR COMMODORE
This disclosure led the editor of this blog to call for the release of the status report of the DSS on Mr Magu.
DENISAURUS News made an appeal to President Muhamadu Buhari, the Attorney General of the Federation AGF and several others over the alarming evidence against Mr Magu.
Similarly, a few Civil Society Organisation have also requested that President Muhammadu Buhari should order the DSS, to release their comprehensive report on Mr Magu of EFCC.
This they say was due to the so many allegations relating the Air Chief Mohammed and Mr Magu of EFCC.
‘DON’T CONFIRM IBRAHIM MAGU’
Two civil society group, Nigerian Youths for Change Initiative and Transparency for Social Justice and Equity have on different instances called for the immediate relief of Mr Magu of EFCC, due to the contract of N43m for Maitama Resident he gave Air Chief Mohammed which Mr Magu has now deserted due to fear of being indicted, and on the other hand, the request for PMB to order DSS to release the indicting report on Magu’s blackmail cartel with the DSS Suspect.
Transparency for Social Justice and Equity, a non-governmental organisation that works to uphold the human right of Nigerians, also expressed concerns about Mr Magu’s alleged connection to Air Commodore Umar Mohammed (Rtd) whom the DSS had arrested and recovered $1.5 million dollars, confidential document from the EFCC, Office of the President and Arms Deal Committee in his Maitama home.
The group was worried that DSS which did not have the chance to SCREEN Mr Magu before his name was submitted to the Senate, is yet to publish the full report on the activities of Mr Magu. The group demanded that the President “orders” for them to do so.
Action is now being taken by a few Senators who have asked Senate President Bukola Saraki to heed to the request made by the editor of this website on August 30.
Reports received by a daily newspaper suggested that the Director General of the DSS, Lawal Daura, had transmitted the ‘status report’ on Mr Magu to Saraki since October but the Senate President is yet to release the letter, many weeks after.
The letter seeking Mr Magu’s confirmation was forwarded to the Senate on June 17, this year by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo when President Muhammadu Buhari was on leave.
But the letter which was received at Senate on June 22nd was not read on the floor of the Senate until July 14. Mr Magu has been acting since November last year.
One of the senators expressed reservation over the non-release of the report, saying “Why and what is he holding the report for?
“People are alleging that we are trying to frustrate the corruption fight of this administration but it is not so. Let him release it now,” he said.
A ranking senator confirmed to the Daily Trust, “that the DSS report was with Saraki, stating that “there is growing agitation among our colleagues and by this week if nothing happens, we will raise point of order on it.”
He added that: “The security report should be discussed in a closed session for us to know the next line of action. For unknown reason, the Senate President has been holding this, he should let it out,” he said.
