An attack on a popular member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW brought chaos into the atmosphere of the flag off campaign of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos today.
DENISAURUS News understands that Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya popularly known as “MC Oluomo” was stabbed in the neck at Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s campaign flag off which took place a few hours ago at the Sky Power Ground, Oba Akinjobi Road, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.
Mr Sanwo-Olu, a former commissioner of Budget and Planning is running against the likes of Jimi Agbaje in order to replace Akinwunmi Ambode on March 2.
Hours after the flag off campaign began, three people including Mc Oluomo were injured. A friend identified as the National chairman of the union, Tajudeen Agbede, rushed the transport labour leader to the hospital.
This paper is not able to verify if the injuries to the union leader is life threatening. However, the word on the street is that MC Oluomo, who has strong ties to a APC chieftain in Lagos, is still in the hospital.
The incident occurred as the outgoing Governor, Ambode was making a speech to the crowd. Governor Ambode, who did not get the backing of his party to run for a second term was telling the crowd to trust the APC when gun shots were been fired into the air.
Both MC Oluomo and Kunle Poly, who have connections to top politicians, have in time past assisted in election matters. In the last elections in Osun, MC Oluomo pledged victory for the APC. He also vowed to enter into Kwara – the territory of the Senate President Bukola Saraki to destabilise things.
At the time of publishing this news, two out of those injured are said to have died.
A source in Lagos confirmed the attack to a reporter at DENISAURUS News, stating that a supporters of a rival member of the NURTW must have carried out the hit.
