Ogun Governor, Dapo Abiodun Hails The Media Team That Worked On His Election Campaign

The Ogun State Governor has hailed his new media team, describing their work in the 2019 election as “instrumental.”

During a courtesy visit to his residence in Iperu-Remo, Ogun state on Sunday, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who received 241,670 of the vote share in the election which concluded on March 10, said the team “demonstrated high level of commitment to the cause of our state and the vision we envisaged for the development of Ogun.”

“Despite the limited resources you had to cater for the the needs of the campaign, you never deterred nor despaired,” he said: “you were not motivated by financial or pecuniary gains.”

Describing the team as formidable, he said they stood against all oppression from the then opposition and sold his campaigns to the hearts of the people.

He went on: “some people were thinking I was paying you so much money, and that I was spoiling you with money. You have demonstrated a high spirit of sportsmanship and fair play in our polity, which I encourage people to emulate.

“I thank you very much for persevering, I thank you very much for being there despite all odds, even when it was most challenging. I understand how challenging it can be when you are contesting against an incumbent government.”

The immediate past Governor, Ibikunle Amosun had promised to handover to his preferred candidate.

Steady Updates can reveal that despite appeals for him not to work against the party’s candidate in Ogun state, Senator Amosun, who received a ticket into the 9th Assembly on the platform of the  ruling All Progressives Congress, went on to support Adekunle Akinlade, a member of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.

A campaign rally held by the APC for President Muhammadu Buhari, was disrupted by members of the APM.

The Governor was also heard in a video, instructing for all bill boards with the image of Governor Abiodun to be taken down at that rally.

Speaking about the election, Governor Abiodun said: “when people believed to be working for the opposition were pulling down our campaign bill boards and defacing our posters, you were all persevering and steadfast.

“Rather than taken to violence, you took the project as personal projects and eventually worked for success.”

The Governor who recently launched a programmes for widows in the state said, his team can best be described as “the coalition of the willing. You pasted our posters in the hearts of the people when some people were tearing them.”

Underlying his plan to succeed, he promised to work on a programme that will see new  jobs  in Ogun –  where industries will start up in the state, those organisation will be mandated to employ the people from the state, who are skilled and competent.

He added that the government has resolved to revive the Agric sector where 10,000s of  farmers will be given lands and supported with loan facilities in order to position Ogun state as the agricultural and food hub of the nation.

Governor Abiodun urged the team to keep working for the development of the state and continue to promote the programmes and policies of the government.

Meanwhile, Mrs Adebisi Olaotan, on behalf of the team appreciated the governor for identifying with the team.

She urged the governor to continue inspiring the team to work more in the interest of the state.
