The speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Frank Abumere Okiye is set to join the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The move comes days after the PDP candidate was declared winner of the governorship election that took place in the state.

Governor Obaseki, who received 57.3 percent of the votes to defeat Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, also joined the PDP few months to the September 18 election.

The Governor elect, secured a second term despite threat from Adams Oshiomhole that he would be defeated.
Mr Oshiomhole, a two term governor had Governor Obaseki disqualified from the primaries. Mr Oshiomhole has also been suspended from his role as APC Chairman.
