Godswin Obaseki has challenged those faction loyal to Adams Oshiomhole, who endorsed Osagie Ize-Iyamu for the Governorship election scheduled for September 19, 2020, saying that he will “not accept to be cowed.”
Governor Obaseki’s comment was made after the small faction loyal to Mr Oshiomhole, the embittered chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC decided to throw its support behind Pastor Ize-Iyamu, a former candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Mr Oshiomhole, 68, a former two term Governor of Edo, whose tenure is to be probed after he was indicted for breach of procurement of law, has previously been accused of using the party ticket to reward those close him.
In the recently concluded 2019 General elections, Mr Oshiomhole was also accused of causing the party to lose some state elections because of the way he handled the primaries.
Despite Mr Oshiomhole’s defiant method of trying to block Governor Obaseki from running again for second term on the APC platform, DENISAURUS News, understands that the Governor remains confident.
He said “I am not a violent person. But I am confident God gave me power. If he wants me to return I will continue. No man can stop me. Power comes from God.”
“We have always canvassed for peace. What are the issues in Edo and what are the issues that cannot be resolved in a democracy? Our concern is to use the resources of the people to develop the state.
“This shouldn’t lead to bloodshed. We will not accept to be cowed and intimidated because some people think that they can manipulate rules and cut corners.”
