Alhaji Smith, who under his leadership has filed a case against the Nigeria Police Force over a recruitment exercise seen as an “affront on the Constitution and a waste of national resources,” recently complained to the President, saying why “would any one refuse to attend a course meant to advance their career.”

In fact, a candidate screened by the secret police has been cleared by them. The candidate looks in a favourable position to take over as soon as Mr Magu is sent off to the course.

This paper was informed that the removal of Mr Magu from the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will cause more problem for Professor Osinbajo, who is currently facing stiff challenges over allegation of corruption and mismanagement of some funds released during the 2019 elections.

For instance, loyalist of the president are peeved that the Vice President is eyeing the presidency in 2023. They have also become less trusting of him.

According to a top government official, the cabal are suspicious of Professor Osinbajo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. Although they did not really trust him before, but now it’s clear their suspicions have grown even more because of what they discovered about him recently.

The government official whose name we have hidden to protect his identity, said the VP deliberately removed the erstwhile Director General of the Secret Service, because he had written an indicting report against Mr Magu of EFCC.

They also believed that when the VP had an air accident where his helicopter crash landed in Kabba at Kogi State, he deceived them that the money he was transporting got burnt. They believe the VP kept the money for himself.

Even those who were once allies of the VP are also turning against him too.

A top ruling party chieftain, who brought the VP into politics is also not happy. The APC stalwart who also wants to be president in the next four years, is not happy his protégé has shafted him because of his aspiration.

People familiar with the situation told this paper that the chieftain discovered that his protégé has been building a war chest against his very own ambition for 2023.

The party chieftain who resides in Lagos has now decided to bring down all the structures and political giants the VP built in preparation for the next election.

A source said that everyone that is associated with the VP and those who got elected through his influence need to be very worried now as they will all fall with their benefactor very soon.
