The Police Service Commission, PSC has announced the promotion of Ibrahim Mustafa Magu as Commissioner of Police.
The news of Mr Magu, the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC rise in rank was exclusively reported by DENISAURUS News last month.
This paper revealed on March 25, 2018, that the corrupt Borno born, who enjoys the support of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, was perplexed as to how this media was able to get information about his promotion.
Mr Magu, was so uncomfortable with his promotion been announced publicly, he did an about turn after our exposé to prevent the PSC from announcing the dubious award to which he is said to have sat an exam for.

It seems Mr Magu’s attempt to reject the promotion was denied.
In a statement the PSC said: “The Commission approved the promotion of AIG Agbola Oshodi-Glover in charge of Zone 11, Osogbo, to the next rank of a Deputy Inspector General of Police while CP Ghazzali Mohammed, Commissioner of Police, Administration, DLS, Force Headquarters and CP Peace Ibekwe Abdallah, former Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command and currently, CP, Force Intelligence Bureau, Force Headquarters were promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police.
“The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, DCP Ibrahim Mustapha Magu, DCP Ebere C. Onyeagoro, DCP Administration, Kaduna State Command and DCP Moshood O. Gbolarumi, DCP Maritime, Lagos, were promoted to the next rank of Commissioner of Police.
“Other promotions approved by the Commission include; one Assistant Commissioner of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Nine Chief Superintendents of Police to Assistant Commissioners of Police, one Deputy Superintendent of Police to Superintendent of Police, one assistant Superintendent of Police to Deputy Superintendent of Police and one Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police.”
The Department of State Security Services, DSS says Mr Magu is a perennial offender, who lacks integrity.
The DSS wrote a report which indicted Mr Magu in October 2016 which meant his nomination as the fourth substantive chairman of the EFCC was rejected by the Senate.
A cosy relationship with Prof Osinbajo has kept Mr Magu in office.
DENISAURUS News was the first to report about the suspension of the NFIU – Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit from Egmont Group.
The suspension was caused by Mr Magu, who was leaking confidential information to media allies.
In 2016, this paper also revealed that Mr Magu was not declaring assets recovered and he was using marabouts in his desperate bid for confirmation.
This revelation was later confirmed by the Director General of the DSS, Lawal Daura at a meeting with the leaders of the Senate.
Despite our exposé, Mr Magu remains in office and it seems like he is being rewarded to remain in the position of acting chair.
A staff member, who wished not to be named, said now that Mr Magu has accepted his promotion, he should make his way to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS for leadership course which is mandatory for the new promotion.
The same official believes that the VP is desperate to keep Mr Magu at the EFCC because of 2019, when he would be used to attack opposition with sensitive information gathered from the Commission.
