A university lecturer caught on camera requesting for sex from a potential student has been asked to step down from his ministerial duties.
Video footage of Boniface Igbeneghu, a lecturer at the University of Lagos, harassing an undercover reporter who posed as a potential student, has been shared online.
The leaders of the Four Square Gospel Church, where Dr Igbeneghu pastored on a part time basis, disassociated themselves from him.
The leaders who have seen the video clip “trending on social media platforms titled âSex for grades: Undercover in West Africa Universities â BBC Newsâ” described the act by Dr Igbeneghu as an “heinous and unscriptural” one.
In a statement, the church said: “the general public is hereby informed that as a holiness and Bible-believing Church, we do not condone such heinous and unscriptural act among our ministers. We totally dissociate ourselves from the purported conduct of Dr. Igbeneghu and promise to take appropriate measure as soon as the ongoing investigation is concluded.
âMeanwhile, the pastor in question has been asked to step down from all ministerial assignments.â
