The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Musliu Smith has reportedly threatened to resign his appointment, if anyone at the top of the nation’s hierarchy continue to interfere with the proceeding of Ibrahim Mustafa Magu’s move to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS.

The 72-year-old retired Inspector General of Police, who became chairman of the PSC in 2018 made it clear that Mr Magu, a “perennial offender” must attend the senior management course, a mandatory requirement that comes with his promotion – which we had exclusively reported about in March 2018.

DENISUAURUS News understands that Mr Magu, a Commissioner of Police is very reluctant to attend the course in Kuru, Jos and would rather remain at the EFCC, where he failed to get the required confirmation from the Senate.

So far, Mr Magu has managed to get his names removed from the list of people scheduled to attend the NIPSS course which was meant to begin this week.

Insiders told this paper, the anti-graft boss did this with the help of a senior government official.

A source familiar with the matter revealed to DENISAURUS News that EFCC’s Magu said he would “remain and get more of his illegal promotion.”

But even, he notes that there might be obstruction to his continuous stay at the commission.

Mr Magu plans to “resign” from the Nigerian Police Force, NPF,” if anyone constitute obstacle by insisting on NIPSS course.

Either way, Alhaji Smith is unrelenting that Mr Magu must attend the course. Sources exclusively told DENISAURUS News that, the PSC chair has threatened to resign his own appointment too, should anyone make Mr Magu escape the NIPPS programme, this February.

The former Police Chief who was retired in March 2002, made it clear that he will rather ensure the rule of law, instead of rule of men without honour, a source confided with our reporters during a meeting this week.

Many have informed this newspaper that the PSC Chair, Alhaji Smith had always been a no-nonsense leader, reason in his first assumption of office, he had a serious running battle with the erstwhile IGP Ibrahim Idris, who is well known for impunity (money-bag promotions) and breaching oath of allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It has previously been stated that Mr Magu has become a liability to the corruption fight, however, he continues to enjoy the support of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

The “corrupt” Borno officer who wears the lapel of President Muhammadu Buhari in public, remains in office despite an indicting report from the Department of State Services, DSS against him.

Staff members who have constantly provided exposĂ© against their boss, argue that the battle over the leadership of the EFCC, started after the  DSS wrote a damning report to the NASS Senate, intimating them that EFCC’s Magu should not be confirmed as the anti-graft boss due to several “corrupt activities.”

Unfortunately, the Vice President Professor Osinbajo, who had continued to promote his unholy alliance with Mr Magu, used a dubious interpretation of S.171 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, to get away with allowing the anti-graft boss to remain at the agency for over three years, despite no confirmation.

This paper also revealed how Vice President, Pastor Professor Senior Advocate of Nigeria has been breaching rule of law, in furtherance of protecting the anti-graft agency’s boss, Mr Magu.

EFCC workers have cried out and even wrote several petitions to President Muhammadu Buhari and the NASS Senate, detailing the corruption and victimisation they have suffered, but all went unattended by the Presidency, DENISAURUS News learned.

There has been fasting and prayers going on for Mr Magu’s removal. The news of his posting to the NIPSS was welcomed by most EFCC employees – including officers seconded from the Nigerian Police Force, NPF.

Mr Magu was upset and became vindictive, when he saw the level at which he is despised by his subordinates.

The 57-years-old has in turn tried to return some seconded police officers back to the mother organisation, at the NPF and has requested for new recruits.

A source clarified that Mr Magu went to the new Acting Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed to plead that his name must not be included in the list of officers going for NIPSS in February.

The source said that request was rejected, and similarly the request for 100 newly recruited Assistant Superintendent of Police was also turned down.

Mr Mohammed rejected the posting saying newly recruited officers should be posted to Police stations so that they can learn the rudiments of the job for a year.
