A recent protest against Akinwunmi Ambode, which took place in Lagos State House of Assembly, was sponsored by the new Governor of Lagos, a member of the People’s Democratic Party has said.
Taofik Gani, the spokesperson of the opposition in Lagos, condemned the act, saying it was an attempt by the ruling party to “overheat the polity and increase the already created loss of confidence in the government.”
In a statement seen by DENISAURUS News, Mr Gani stated that Babajide Sanwoolu, “the governor himself is sponsoring such protests against his predecessor.
He explained that the protest was “unfortunately overheating the polity and to distract Lagosians away from his abysmal performances.
“To the PDP, Governor Sanwo-Olu has created “Official Vendetta” in Lagos governance; unfortunately for him, his ranking is going down whilst he needlessly goes after his predecessor,” he added.
Due to his fallout with his God-Father, Mr Ambode, the first governor since 1999 was denied a ticket to seek a second term.
In an attempt to fight back, the former Governor held a world press conference where he declared Babajide Sanwoolu, the candidate chosen by leaders of the All Progressives Congress and its members to stand in the 2019 election as its candidate.
“This is somebody that has been arrested for spending fake Ameican dollars in a night club and he has been detained for months. And he knows he has got a mug shot for months before this whole thing was quenched.”
Mr Ambode went further to state in the press conference that Sanwoolu, who went on to win that election “does not have the competence to do what he is being propelled to do.
The records are there in Gbagada General Hospital, Mr Ambode said of his successor, “somebody who has gone for rehabilitation before.”

The immediate past Governor of Lagos, who failed to get a Ministerial appointment despite working hard during the elections, has also received intense monitoring from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission following his departure from office.
Sources at the EFCC told DENISAURUS News exclusively on August 18 that the former Governor was paying the price for trying to expose his God-Father, who is the owner of Alpha Beta, a tax consultancy firm which has been collecting Internally Generated Revenue, IGR for Lagos State since 2002, has generated billions but has avoided paying tax.
At the time, the source confidently said that “Mr Ambode has not heard the last of it.”
“He will be persecuted dearly for trying to embarrass his Godfather.”
