President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a message to all Muslims in Nigeria, marking the end of their 30 days fasting.Â
The Nigerian President marked the end of ramadan – where religious faithfuls do not eat from dusk to dawn, at his home in Abuja, instead of visiting his homestead in Daura, Kastina, due to the lockdown caused by the CoVID-19.
President Buhari, whose powerful Chief Of Staff died of COVID-19, applauded the people of Nigeria who were observing the instructions the government has set to “limit the spread of the deadly disease.”
A statement issued by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu said: “it is not easy to give up many of these important duties and activities, but it became imperative to do so in order to control or limit the spread of this deadly disease.
“Let me use this opportunity to commend the sacrifices of both Muslims and Christians for their cooperation in the enforcement of the social distancing guidelines.
“I am well aware of the inconveniences these tough measures have brought on the lives of Nigerians, including limiting religious activities and gatherings in large numbers,” the statement said.
