Key members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ogun State were troubled today, when they arrived at the MKO Abiola Stadium to find posters of their Governorship candidate being destroyed.
The order to destroy the Dapo Abiodun’s posters came directly from Ibikunle Amosun, the outgoing Governor of the state who has served eight years and was selected to represent the party at the Senate this year.
The outgoing Governor in a video seen by DENISAURUS News, ordered men who were backed with security forces to take down printed artwork featuring Prince Abiodun hours before President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo arrived in the South West state.
According to those present at the stadium at the time the mayhem was going on, Kayode Adesiji, Special Assistant to Governor Amosun went on to remove the banners.
Governor Amosun, who has less than three month in office is working against his party’s candidate.

After his favoured candidate Adekunle Akinlade lost the primaries to Prince Abiodun, many assumed the Governor would see reason and back the party members on their decision, but instead, Governor Amosun issued a statement where he promised to do all he can against the APC.
At least more than once, the Governor has been heard calling for support for Mr Akinlade, an action deemed by many as against his own APC party.
At a stakeholder meeting in Abeokuta, he said he promised to âuse everything I have to supportâ Mr Akinlade against his partyâs candidate, Prince Abiodun.

He said: âWhen these people came, they told me they are leaving the APC, I said ânoâ but I couldnât stop them. In fact, Akinlade has my full support.
âI am not going to stop him. Everything I have, I will use to support him. Let them try whatever they want to try, we also have our strategies and I am not going to hide behind one finger.
âI remain in APC because thatâs what those people want, they want us to leave APC but they are joking.â
Mr Akinlade, the Allied Peopleâs Movement, APM Governorship candidate whom Governor Amosun promised to support in every way, went on to endorse President Buhari.
However, at the rally today in Abeokuta, the President insisted on backing his own Governorship candidate, Prince Abiodun.
Today, the President raised the hands of Prince Abiodun as the flagbearer of the party.
Immediately this happened, members of the APM who sources say Governor Amosun “illegally” assisted and allowed to mix with the crowd supporting the APC, began to throw stones at President Buhari.
Governor Amosun who has in the past promised never to support Prince Abiodun, his party’s candidate, later began to beg for calm.
âI beg you in the name of God⊠this is what they want to happen⊠Please donât disgrace me here,â he said in Yoruba.
âOur father is here, please donât disgrace me. I beg you in the name of God, please donât disgrace me before our father⊠We have laboured this hard. I am appealing to you. Please, leave. I beg you in the name of God, please leave. I beg you. I am begging.â
But party member in the state believe the Governor is not a party man. They say he his conduct today has brought huge shame on them.
