The spokesperson to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned the ruling party for using state security apparatus to hound its members in the run up to the 2019 elections.
Kola Ologbondiyan, who was speaking in Abuja on Friday said: “The PDP urges Nigerians to note how the APC-controlled security forces, on Wednesday, arrested and detained opposition members in Ogun State, including a member of the House of Assembly, Adebiyi Adeleye, who were going about their legitimate activities, only to tag them as cult members.”
He said: “The PDP condemns (All Progressives Congress) APC’s resort to persecution, intimidation, harassment and framing of our members, as well as dissenting voices, just to suppress the opposition ahead of the 2019 election.”
President Muhammadu Buhari’s government has been accused of using heavy handed tactics to silent his critics.
The 75-year-old, who has failed to deal with the herdsmen crisis, is bidding for a second term, but has been advised to go back to his home state, Daura to rest.

Olusegun Obasanjo, a former President of Nigeria is one of those said to be unhappy with the achievement of Nigeria’s President.
On Friday, Chief Obasanjo who has in several letters urged Nigeria’s elderly head of state not to seek re-election in 2019, claimed his life was under threat by President Buhari.

In a statement, Chief Obasanjo said there were ongoing plans to “seize his International Passport and clamp him into detention indefinitely, in order to prevent him from further expressing angst on the pervasive mediocrity in the quality of governance, economic management and in the protection of lives and property by the Government.”
Similarly, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike raised alarm bells about the Government plan to also implicate him using a Lebanese businessman.
“The federal government has arranged with a Lebanese to say that I told him to buy arms for the purpose of the forthcoming elections,” Governor Wike said.
“I am not close to any Lebanese, let alone give money to anyone to buy arms for elections. We have dutifully served our people and we don’t need to purchase arms for elections.
“If elections are held 20,000 times, we will win because our projects have positively impacted the lives of our people.”
DENISAURUS News reported in May 2018, that the Nigerian Police Force led by Ibrahim Idris was plotting to “frame” the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The Number three man who made the allegation during Plenary was later asked to appear at the Force Office in Abuja to answer questions about the Offa Robbery, an incident he says he is not involved in.
The suspect in the robbery have since admitted to carrying out the operation on their own accord.
“It is devil that pushed us,” Ayodele Akinnibosun aka AY, one of the lead suspect said.
