A Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Mohammed Wakili, who is among the pioneer policemen in the commission, has officially joined the line-up of those battling to take over from Ibrahim Mustafa Magu at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
DENISAURUS News can reveal that DCP Wakili, known to be a corrupt officer who worked has Director of Internal Affairs, DIA of the agency, is pushing to take over as the chief executive of the anti-graft agency, following the rejection of Mr Magu’s nomination by the Senate.
On Thursday, 15, December, members of the Senate rejected the nomination of Mr Magu based on a damming report it received from the Department of State Security, DSS.
The DSS report accused the rejected acting boss of corruption, utilising police lackeys to carry out corrupt acts and fraternising with the detained air commodore, Umar Mohammed (Rtd).
Concerned staff who welcomed the report of the DSS, as it corroborates various allegations they made against Mr Magu to this website over the past seven months, have come out to speak against the nomination of various corrupt officers who have lined themselves up for the top job at the commission.
Last month, it was revealed that another well-known corrupt officer, Bello Yahaya, was lobbying for the position of the chief executive at the EFCC.
Sambo Mayana, a core staff confided to close friends at the commission that Yahaya, a former chief superintendent of police who was returned to the Nigerian Police Force in July, 2016, following an intense write up by Adenike Lucas which exposed his corrupt acts, “will become the new EFCC chair.”
Staff who are privy to have seen sensitive information about the Commission, have now exposed to this website DCP Wakili’s ambition to head the place, but they say, such ambition must not be allowed to materialise because when “the DIA, a department created by Ibrahim Lamorde was established, DCP Wakili was the Director of Internal Affairs and Mr Magu was his deputy.”
They say, DCP Wakili who served as the Chief of Staff to the sacked EFCC boss, Mr Lamorde fraudulently collected money from Pension cases under his investigation.
Staff believe “the DIA department was established with the aim of victimising and indicting core staff unjustly.”
Despite sending several petitions against DCP Wakili and his team members such as Habibu Adamu Aliyu, Mustapha Gadanya and many other, they say nothing was done, “because of the kick back he offers to his boss Ibrahim Lamorde.”
“The petition has consistently been swept under the carpets.”
Information gathered by DENISAURUS News reveals that “DCP Wakili has been going round lobbying politicians and some highly placed people who benefited from his dirty deals and whom criminal cases were frustrated by him to emerge as the chairman of the anti-graft agency.”
