Banji Okunomo, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, who sought to contest as its gubernatorial candidate in the upcoming election in Ondo State, is set to join the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP.
Mr Okunomo, who served as Publicity Secretary of the PDP, also plans to take thousands of his supporters to his new party, source have revealed to DENISAURUS News.

The former PDP chieftain failed to pick the PDP ticket for the elections, and was sidelined by the party’s candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, a lawyer by profession, who served as commissioner for justice and attorney-general of Ondo, when it was time to select his deputy.

Barrister Jegede, who had in 2016 lost the election to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Rotimi Akeredolu, opted for Ikengboju Gboluga, a member of the current House of Representatives.
Mr Okunomo is expected to swap from the PDP to the ZLP tomorrow.

The deputy Governor of Ondo, Agboola Ajayi also moved to ZLP because he had failed to clinch the PDP’s governorship ticket.
But DENISAURUS News, understands that the election is a two-way race between the incumbent, Governor Akeredolu, and the candidate of the PDP.
