The former Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Polaris Bank Limited Tokunbo Abiru has been selected by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Lagos East Senatorial by-election.

The election which is to hold on October 31st, comes months after the passing of Senator Bayo Osinowo.

Senator Osinowo known as pepperito, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, who was elected to the upper chamber in 2019, died at the First Cardiology, after contracting the deadly coronavirus in June.

Mr Abiru, 56, an ally of a leading chieftain of the ruling party, who now resigned is position as CEO of polaris bank and who also served as the Lagos state commissioner of finance from 2011 to 2013, had previously denied that he was seeking any political office.

But on August 28, he picked up a nomination form of the APC and was spotted when he went to submit it at the APC headquarters in Lagos.

The APC is currently the major party in Lagos, with little opposition from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

DENISAURUS News understands  this election will be a “walk in the park” for Mr Abiru.
