The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi is set to join Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, in order to contest in the October 10 Governorship election.
Mr Ajayi, who resigned his membership from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, last month, joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but failed to pick up their ticket.
PDP Delegates had instead voted for its 2016 candidate, Eyitayo Jegede.
Barrister Jegede, a lawyer by profession, who served commissioner for justice and attorney-general of Ondo scored 888 votes to defeat Mr Ajayi who scored 657 votes.
If Mr Ajayi decamps to ZLP, he will only serve as a “spoiler,” but would not win the election, DENISAURUS News has been made to understand.
The outgoing deputy Governor will face his boss, Rotimi Akeredolu in the election may not have enough time to build a structure within the party he is moving to.
Governor Akeredolu Governor Akeredolu, the candidate of the APC, has more chances of winning the election, due to the power of incumbency.
