Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo has been projected as the winner of the Primaries held by the ruling All Progressives Congress today at the Dove Centre in Akure, the state capital.
DENISAURUS News understands that Governor Akeredolu, a lawyer by profession, received more delegate votes than his nearest rival Olusola Oke.
Governor Akeredolu is said to have received 216 votes from delegates in Akoko South West, while Mr Oke only scored 17.
In 2016, Mr Oke lost in the party primaries to Governor Akeredolu. Consequently, he left the ruling party to join the Alliance for Democracy, a party that has now been de-listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Though the results have not been officially announced by Yahaya Bello, the chairman of the Ondo State All Progressives Congress Primary Election Committee, and Governor of Kogi state, those close to the ruling party say that Mr Oke might leave the party before October 19 – when the governorship election is scheduled to hold in Ondo.
