Akeredolu’s Deputy Defects To Opposition Party

Agboola Ajayi, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State has the joined the leading opposition party, DENISAURUS News has learned. 

Mr Ajayi, who was elected alongside Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in 2016, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, resigned his membership from the ruling party this afternoon to join the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The PDP said he “has resigned his membership of the failed @OfficialAPCNg and after his resignation, picked the @OfficialPDPNig membership card at Ward 2, Apoi, in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

This is the second prominent politician from the south to have left the ruling party in less than one week.

Many have accused the suspended chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole of running a vendetta against members of the party, which has led to many exiting the party.

Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of Edo and his deputy defected to the PDP on Friday (June 19).

There is a scheduled election meant to hold in Ondo and Edo this year and both men are looking to run on the PDP platform.
