The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Mustafa Magu, has rushed to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr Magu, a “perennial offender,”DENISAURUS News understands, is off to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, this month, but he hopes meeting President Buhari at the 33rd Ordinary Session of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, will prevent his removal from the EFCC.

The 57-year-old Borno man, is the first to be rejected as a substantive chairman of the anti-graft commission.

Despite his rejection by lawmakers of the eight senate, he remained in office at the detriment of his hardworking staff, who have always complained of him victimising and bullying them. They also accused him of being “a log to the corruption fight.”

Their accusation was given further clearance when the Department of State Services, DSS, wrote a report published first by this paper, describing Mr Magu as a “liability to the corruption fight.”
Under Mr Magu, corruption has thrived. The anti-graft boss admitted this at a recent workshop in Calabar where he was represented by the Head of Public Affairs of the zone.

“Corruption has defied every solution thrown at it and is still spreading like cancer,” Theresa Nwosu stated in her remarks.

This comes many days after Transparency International, TI, rated Nigeria low in its corruption fight. Mr Magu, who has been in office for five years, has seen the rating go lower than when he was first appointed into office.

There have been many calls for reform for the commission, however, Mr Magu refused to heed to advise. Instead, he prefers to approach it all with media propaganda, staff say.
Some of his media appearances and utterances has caused embarrassment for Presidents Buhari’s Government.
As at last week, Mr Magu accused the British Government and Downing Street of harbouring corrupt people.
This caused a diplomatic row between the Nigerian and British government, leading to Mr Magu going on a goose trip to the US. He was sent back home, DENISAURUS News was reliably informed.
On his way back to Nigeria, he decided to pass through the UK to file an extradition case against former Ministers of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
But, the issue of extradition, sources say should emanate from the Attorney General of Federation’s Office. To them, Mr Magu has not followed due process and he knows it. He isn’t only “playing to the gallery.”

DENISAURUS News, who stands in solidarity with the victimised staff, has now been informed that the Senior Executive Course Mr Magu is to attend, begins this month.
Mr Magu, who is still hoping to remain stay-put, at the agency has now rushed off to Ethiopia hoping to see President Buhari.
Those who know the anti-graft boss, told this paper their boss “is very fetish and it’s highly likely he wants to use juju to speak to Baba so he can change his mind on his study leave.”
It is not the first time the anti-graft boss has been caught in fetish acts.
To avoid going to NIPSS this year, Mr Magu enlisted the help of a spiritualist in Abuja. The marabout was not able to deliver the results needed and sources told DENISAURUS News, Mr Magu had him arrested.
