The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kano has received an award from a Kaduna based women’s organisation in recognition of his hard work.
Abba Yusuf, an engineer before venturing into politics, was recognised by Kigo Matan Kwarai Co-operative Society as the most outstanding politician in the year 2019.
The Co-operative, which is formed by notable women that seeks to improve the “livelihood of women in Northern Nigeria,” is led by Fatima Ladi.
Presenting the various categories of the awards at the annual launching and award ceremony, was Hajiya Fatima, the President of the Co-operaive.
She said Enginer Yusuf popularly known as Abba Gida Gida, “deserves to be recognized as the most outstanding politician for running a peaceful campaigns and engaging youth in politics without violence during the 2019 election.”
She said “Abba Gida Gida deserves the award being the most popular governorship candidate in northern Nigeria that was a subject of discussion in many states, but when denied his mandate, Abba did not instigate his massive support and that makes Kano to maintain relative peace at post election level.”
The awardees who bagged various categories of awards include Bunun Zazzau, General Sani Sule rtd and Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso..
While presenting a key note address at the event, Engr. Abba K. Yusuf who was represented by his Spokesperson Alhaji Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, said women empowerment remains a catalyst for social and economic inclusion of the marginalized and vulnerable groups of the society.
