Jo Johnson, a leading Conservative MP has quit the government.Â
The Higher Education Minster, who is the younger brother of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, said “in recent weeks I’ve been torn between family loyalty and the national interest.”
In a message seen by DENISAURUS News, Jo Johnson, a member for Orpington who voted to stay in the EU, noted that “It’s an unresolvable tension,” adding that it was “time for others to take on my roles as MP & Minister. #overandout.”
The news of his resignation has been well received by his 55-year-old brother who is also the leader of the Conservative party.
“The prime minister would like to thank Jo Johnson for his service. He has been a brilliant, talented minister and a fantastic MP,” a statement from Downing Street states.
