Rochas Okorocha has now been presented with a Certificate of Return to the Senate.
The certificate acknowledges the former Governor of Imo State as the winner of the recent election in Imo West Senatorial District.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had refused to issue the certificate stating that the result favouring the former Governor was announced by its Returning Officer, was done under duress.

Senator Okorocha, who was suspended by the ruling All Progressives Congress after supporting his son-in-law’s Governorship ambition through a rival party, approached the court over the matter.

In its ruling, the Federal High Court in Abuja, ordered the electoral empire to ensure it “publish and circulate the name of the plaintiff as the senator-elect representing Orlu Imo West Senatorial District.”
The Court ruled that “the issue of duress is unknown to both the Electoral Act and the Constitution.”
