Dino Melaye, the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has said he would be running for Governor.
The lawmaker made the announcement at a meeting of the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party, held at the Ayetoro Country home of Major General David Jemibewon on Saturday.
The former member of the House of representative, who retained his seat in the upper chamber, despite huge attempt from the ruling party to prevent it, hopes to contest the Kogi State Governorship election scheduled for November 16 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The current Governor, Yahaya Bello, hopes to contest under the ruling All Progressives Congress. However, the 43-year-old Governor, who was sworn into office on January 2016, has lost a lot of goodwill, following his failure to pay the salaries of Civil Servant in the state on time.
DENISAURUS News understands that Senator Melaye is a strong candidate and has a chance of picking up the PDP ticket, especially as no other candidate has signified interest within the party.
