A popular senator from Kaduna claims that the All Progressives Congress, APC will crumble after President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office.
Speaking to Channels TV, Shehu Sani said: “Buhari remains the heart, soul and the oxygen of the party. I don’t think after Buhari there can be APC again.”

The activist cum politician who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial District has had a running with Nasir El-rufai, the Governor of Kaduna, but because of an intervention from a party chieftain and President Buhari, he did not leave the party when others where leaving.

“Last July, there was an uprising in the national party whereby legislators decided to decamp and I was part of the team but I was held back through the intervention of Bola Tinubu and President Buhari.
The lawmaker who lost the APC ticket to Governor El-rufai’s candidate, has now decided to leave the party to join the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP.

He said: “There were discussions and promises whereby those of us who have raised issues of problems with governors of our state will be addressed.”
The lawmaker insisted that he was not demanding to “be given automatic ticket.”
He reiterated that those that “emerge as a candidate in the APC, first of all, you have to have somebody close to the seat of power, secondly if you are in the favoured book of the governor.”
Asked about President Buhari’s chance in 2019, Comrade Sani stated that the “party is in a very bad shape,” and even if the president is to win it would not be “on the kind of political atmosphere we have found ourselves within the party.”
