Atunwa Named As PDP Governorship Candidate For Kwara

Razak Atunwa, a member of the House of Representatives from Kwara State, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is to be the party’s candidate in the 2019 elections.

Honourable Atunwa, a former Speaker of the House in Assembly, polled 4,555 votes to defeat Shaba Lafiagi, a senator from the state who scored 577 votes.

The lawmaker, who holds a pilot licence received extra support from members of the party after Bolaji Abdullahi stepped down from the elections.

His victory in the February election is almost certain, as the lawmaker a strong ally of Bukola Saraki, the Senate President.

Dino Melaye, another ally of Senator Saraki has also been selected to defend his Kogi West Senatorial seat on the platform of the PDP.

Senator Melaye made the announcement on his twitter handle.

“Thank God for being returned as the candidate of the Great PDP in the Senatorial primary election held today in Kabba. To God be the Glory. Kogi West PDP I thank you.”
