Dino Melaye will defend his senatorial seat in the National Assembly under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP
Senator Melaye, who represent Kogi West, was first elected to the red chambers in 2015, under the All Progressives Congress.

He decamped from the ruling party this year.
“Thank God for being returned as the candidate of the Great PDP in the Senatorial primary election held today in Kabba,” he said.
The vocal lawmaker made the announcement via his twitter handle.
Senator Melaye has gained the love and support of the people of KOGI, after he challenged their state governor, Yahaya Bello over his failure to pay salaries.
A plan by the governor to recall the lawmaker failed. The exercise failed to gain the required number of signatures needed.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, less than 5 percent of the 189,870 out of Senator Melaye’s constituents participated in the process.
And for the recall petition to be successful, 50 percent of the signatory had to be verified, therefore the recall did “not satisfied the requirement as specified by law for the referendum.”

The anti-corruption activist, also gathered more support after he rose to defend staff members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission who accused Ibrahim Mustafa Magu, of victimising and bullying them.
The EFCC staffers also accused their boss of perpetuating huge corruption and impunity at the agency.

The allegation which was reported by DENISAURUS News were later confirmed by the Department of State Security Service, DSS.
