The General Overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has appointed a member, Joseph Obafemi to head the church in Nigeria.

Pastor Adeboye, 74, made the announcement at the ministers Thanksgiving service in Shimawa, Ogun State, this morning.

‘Daddy GO’ as he is popularly known, is expected to continue to operate as the head of the church worldwide, while “Pastor Joseph Obafemi, the Assistant General Overseer [Finance] heads the church in Nigeria.

“Pastor Funsho Odesola, the Assistant General Overseer [Admin] will be the General Secretary and Pastor Joseph Adeyokunnu, the Financial Controller, will be the Treasurer for RCCG Nigeria.”

The new structure of the church is “particular to Nigeria alone.”

Records shows that Pastor Agu Irukwu of Jesus House, is the head of the executive council of the RCCG in the United Kingdom.

Pastor Irukwu who was ordained in 1993, acts in a supervisory capacity over the 600 parishes located in the country.

Daddy GO, a former lecturer and Professor of Mathematics, was appointed as the General Overseer in 1981, before the death of the founder, Papa  Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi

Media groups in Nigeria have reported the new structure to mean Pastor Adeboye’s early retirement.

However, church members who attended the monthly, Holy Ghost Congress held on January 6, called this website to deny the news of Pastor Adeboye’s retirement, as they said: “Pastor Adeboye did not make such announcement at the recently concluded Holy Ghost Congress that took place last night.”

DENISAURUS NEWS has now received a statement signed by the Personal Assistant to Daddy GO, which confirmed the appointment of Pastor Obafemi as the lead pastor in Nigeria.

Pastor Leke Adeboye said the information of Daddy GO’s retirement was false. He advised all members to correct those spreading such information.

A memo signed by the Assistant General Overseer [Admin], Pastor Odesola, echoed what Pastor Adeboye had said.

Pastor Odesola’s memo, pictured below states that “Daddy GO remains the Spiritual Leader and Global Missioner of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.”
