The Director of the Department of State Security, Lawal Daura has been sacked over his refusal to participate in the invasion that took place at the National Assembly today, DENISAURUS News can reveal.
Mr Daura, who has had a long showdown with the Vice President and now Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo was directed to hand over to “the most senior officer of the SSS until further notice.”
Mr Daura’s dismissal was confirmed by Laolu Akande, a Special Adviser to Professor Osinbajo.
This paper published exclusive report of the indicting report Mr Daura wrote against “corrupt” Ibrahim Mustafa Magu which resulted in the rejection of his nomination as substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC in 2016 and 2017.
While staff at the anti-graft commission, who have provided this paper with unlimited access to information on the misdeed of Mr Magu, celebrated his rejection, Professor Osinbajo continued to support the “perennial offender.”

In an interview with this paper, EFCC sources revealed that the National Security Adviser in a bid to save Mr Magu, doctored a second report which suggested that Mr Magu described as a “liability” was fit to hold the executive office.
But the Director of the secret police, we were exclusively told refused to stand down on his allegation and went on to add more charges against Mr Magu.

This seemed to have pissed of Professor Osinbajo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who claims against the EFCC Act 2004 that Mr Magu did not need NASS Senate confirmation.

Mr Daura who also confirmed our exclusive report that Mr Magu was using marabouts in his desperation to become the fourth chairman of the EFCC, was today on the orders of the AG President finally given the boot.

DENISAURUS News learnt that President Muhammadu Buhari, 75, who is away on vacation watched the whole situation via a national news channel and his aware of the dismissal of Nigeria’s DG triple S.
However, according to a government source, the President was not consulted by Professor Osinbajo over the sack.
Insiders say Professor Osinbajo fired the spy chief without first informing President Buhari.

Another inside source revealed that the fate of Mr Daura said to be against the stand off against the legislative arm of government, was sealed in the early hours of this morning, after the 2-IC got a call from a powerful party chieftain.
The invasion which the head of Nigeria’s internal secret agency refused to partake in, but was carried out by subordinates at the DSS under the instructions of the National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno, and supported by the Nigerian Police Force under the command of Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector General of Police, has been condemned by many.
While the DSS director has been relieved of his job, the police chief remains in office.
It has left many wondering over the decision taken by the Vice President on today’s invasion at the NASS where lawmakers had gathered to hold an emergency meeting in order to consider national issues – including a request made by President Muhammadu Buhari who is currently away from the country. This website gathered that they were denied entry by operatives of the DSS.
Though the DSS is led by Mr Daura, this paper understands that the siege on the 8th NASS was orchestrated by the NSA chief and Mr Idris.

The SA to the Acting President was contacted for comment.
No response was provided for our request as at the time this report was published.
However Mr Akande has since released a comprehensive statement about the sacking of Mr Daura.
Although the full reason was not stated in the statement, he noted that the “Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has described the unauthorized takeover of the National Assembly complex earlier today as a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all acceptable notions of law and order.
“According to him, the unlawful act which was done without the knowledge of the Presidency is condemnable and completely unacceptable.
“By this statement, Professor Osinbajo is consequently assuring Nigerians that all persons within the law enforcement apparatus who participated in this travesty will be identified and subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.”
