Rotimi Akeredolu was officially sworn in on Friday, as the sixth Governor of Ondo State by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Temidayo Osoba.

Mr Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria popularly known as Aketi and his Deputy Agboola Ajayi were declared winners of the November 26, 2016, elections having received 244, 842 out of the 584, 997 votes.

In his inauguration speech, Aketi thanked “the President of Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon.Yakubu Dogara. I thank all APC Governors who stood to be counted with us in our hour of need and other eminent Nigerians too numerous to mention.”

“I appreciate Gov @RotimiAkeredolu for his kind words today, and his acknowledgment of my contributions. I wish him the very best!” Senator @Bukolasaraki responded on twitter.

Senator Saraki had a front row seat, having led a key delegation which includes Senator Dino Melaye and the former Governor of Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi, who is the current Minister of Solid Minerals, to the inauguration.

Mr Akeredolu’s counterpart from Ogun state, Governor Ibikunle Amosun was also present.

Governor of Ekiti, Ayo Fayose also witnessed the out-going Governor, Olusegun Mimko handing over to Aketi.

A statement sent to DENISAURUS News by the APC UK chapter under the leadership of Ade Omole, states that Mr Akeredolu’s win was a sign of the support people had for President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Your victory, Sir, is a sign that the people do believe in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“I believe the people of Ondo will benefit from your wealth of experience. Your vision for the sunshine state, which includes getting the economy moving in the right direction, will be of massive benefit for the entire country as well.”
