President Muhammadu Buhari will soon return to Nigeria from vacation in London, a presidential aide revealed today.
The President fondly known as PMB, is currently on an extended holiday in the UK. Nigeria’s Commander in Chief, who is in constant dialogue with people in Nigeria, is said to be missing home, and “looking forward” his return.
Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, made the statement in an interview today on the Channels Television Breakfast Show.
“As a matter of fact, we should be getting ready to see the president flesh and blood and that will be as soon as possible.
“The president is looking forward to being home to be with his people. I don’t think he is enjoying any longer an extended vacation outside the country,’’ Mallam Shehu said.
A source with close links to President Buhari’s family confirmed to DENISAURUS NEWS that they have been in constant dialogue with him since he travelled out of the country in January.
Last week the Senate President, Bukola Saraki said that he had spoken to the President over the phone.
President Buhari also held a telephone conversation with his American counterpart yesterday at 2:45GMT.
Meanwhile, President Buhari has expressed his sadness over the death of Hajiya Tasallah Fika, the wife of former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Adamu Fika, Wazirin Fika.
Mallam Shehu expressed this message in a statement seen by this blog this morning.
“In a telephone call from London to the bereaved Wazirin, the President said the loss of such a devoted wife of many years was particularly a painful and challenging moment in the life of any husband.
“President Buhari explained that as a family man himself, he understood the depth of pain Dr. Fika was going through at this time “having lost a great and invaluable companion of many years and that the deceased was one of the most devoted wives who was the pride of the nuclear family.”
