A French police officer who rapped a man with a baton, while his colleague watched on has been suspended.

CCTV footage showed four officers attack a youth worker in the Parisian suburb of Aulnay-sous-Bois, during an identity check last week.

The man is said to have suffered severe anal injuries which required surgery.

French interior minister Bruno Le Roux suspended the four policemen.

The Officer has been charged with rape and three other officers have been charged with ‘deliberate violence’.
