A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kaduna who was arrested and detained at Force CIB Garki, Abuja, has been released, a close source has told DENISAURUS News.
Yaro Makama Rigachikun, who believes his detention was because of the coming election was finally released in the early hours of yesterday.
DENISAURUS News understands that loads of women and men have been trooping into Rigachikun to welcome the former PDP chairman.
Alhaji Rigachikun who was picked up by security agents early this month, was accused of using words that could lead to “complete breakdown of law and order in the state and beyond.”
In an exclusive interview with a reporter of this paper, the Kaduna state politician who was a chairman of the PDP in his state, denied the allegations made against him, saying his arrest was just a ploy by the ruling All Progressives Congress – which he left in 2017, to stifle members of the opposition.
“Kuma sun roke ni amma nace ba zan koma APC ba, saboda sun kasa cika alkawuran da suka yi wa Jama’a.”
“Abin dayasa na fadi kalman cewa a buge duk wanda yayi yunkurin satan akwati saboda shi Shugaban kasa Buhari shi ya fara yin wannan kalman tada hargitsi a wajen campe da yayi a 2011. Hakanan ma ya sake yin kalaman tayar da hargitsi a Zamfara shekaran jiya wajen yakin neman zabe,” he said in Hausa language.
Those close to the released PDP chieftain, who is working on delivering votes for his party Governorship candidate Isa Ashiru Kudan, believe that they have gained enough ground to win the March 9 Guber elections.
The news of the postponement of the election from March 2 to March 9, did nothing to hinder their hopes, they said.
Alhaji Rigachikun, this paper understands, feels strong and remains confident of the victory of the party.
Since his release, the former PDP chairman attended a Town Hall meeting with the Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar and other prominent members of the party.
At the meeting held at the Trade Fair Complex in Kaduna, Alhaji Rigachikun was once again welcomed by a mammoth crowd who encouraged him not to be intimidated or dissuaded by the actions of the police from Abuja who arrested him.
DENISAURUS News has reached out to the Nigerian Police Force to confirm the release of the PDP chieftain.
