KADUNA – Thousands of supporters swarmed behind Isa Ashiru Kudan, the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who was out campaigning in Sanga Local Government, Kaduna, today.
The number of persons who welcomed Mr Ashiru was so much, it is seen as a sign of the end of the reign of the incumbent Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
The Governor of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who is facing a stiff challenge from the PDP candidate has lost support in the South of the state, following several clashes that has resulted in the loss of lives of many Christians living there.
He also lost allies in his party, after bulldozing a building belonging to a serving Senator from the state.
After Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi’s building was demolished on the authorisation of the Governor, Shehu Sani, a Senator representing Kaduna Central raised a motion on the floor of the National Assembly noting that Nigeria “cannot accommodate somebody who has the tendencies of Adolf Hitler, Mobutu Sese Seko and Nebuchadnezzar.”
There are huge fears that the Governor might not be returned back to office, following the atrocities committed in his first term.
Governor El-Rufai who has himself visited areas in Zone 1, Kaduna North Zone earlier this week but was greeted with chants of “ba mu so (we don’t want), a DENISAURUS News reporter was told.”
At Sabon Gari and Zaria Local Government the people began to wash the street immediately after his departure, a sign that they did not want him around.
