Former Governor Of Imo State Arrested For Forcefully Unsealing Properties Taken By Government

Rochas Owelle Okorocha, a former governor of Imo has been arrested for unsealing a property sealed by the state government.

The 58-year-old, DENISAURUS News understand has been taken to Owerri Police Headquarters for unsealing a property, Royal Spring Palm Hotel, which belongs to the wife.

Senator Okorocha, who now represents Imo West Senatorial District in the upper chamber, accompanied by Uche Nwosu, had gone to unseal the property which was sealed by Hope Uzodinma, the lawmakers successor.

Governor Uzodinma and Senator Okorocha have been at loggerhead since the former governor left office.

A video circulating the social media space, shows Senator Okorocha and an aide of the Governor were seen having a slanging match.

The two politicians have been unable to settle their difference since Governor Uzodinma was sworn in after the Supreme Court sacked Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2020.

Although Governor Uzodinma came fourth in the party primaries, the supreme court judgement favoured him because the Mr Nwosu who contested in the primaries had decamped to another party.

The lawmaker’s son-in-law Mr Nwosu, was denied the governorship ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC joined the Action Alliance, AA. Instead Governor Uzodinma was gifted the ticket by Adams Oshiomhole, the party chairman who has since been suspended.

Leaders of the Action Alliance have denied that Mr Nwosu was their candidate in the 2019 election, and DENISAURUS News believes that Senator Okorocha’s son may file a new petition to challenge the decision to swear Governor Uzodinma in as governor of Imo.
