The selection of the next emir of Zazzau has suffered a set back following a tip off that prominent people involved in the process have been induced by large financial rewards, DENISAURUS News can report.
The late Emir Shehu Idris of Zazzau, died on Sunday 20th September 2020 at the age of 84. Having served his people for 45 years, his death sparked the process for the search for his successor by the Zazzau Emirate kingmakers.
The Kingmakers involved in the process, this paper understands are Wazirin Zazzau, Fagachin Zazzau, Makama Karamin Zazzau, Limamin Zazzau and Limamin Kona Zazzau.
This paper was told that 11 people expressed interest in the position, but only three of them were shortlisted and sent to the Executive Governor Nasiru Elrufai to chose the most suitable one among them.
The source stated that the three names short listed were “Alhaji Bashir Aminu Iyan Zazzau 89, Alhaji Muhammadu Munnir Jaafaru Yeriman Zazzau 87 and the late Emir son Alhaji Aminu Shehu Idris Turakin Zazzau 53.”
A person close to the Emirate council who spoke exclusively to DENISAURUS News, noted that the Kingmakers who are the ones given the responsibility to recommend candidate that fulfil the prerequisites for the said position were induced financially by some prominent members in the country.
According to information received from the informant, a former Vice President of Nigeria who is from Kaduna and a well known former Minister of Defence, both have interest in who becomes the next of Zazzau and have sponsored largely their own candidate for the position.
The payment of 300 Million was paid by the former defence minister, who holds a traditional title in the Zaria emirate to favour Iyan Zazzau.
Similarly, the former Vice President also paid a large amount so as to gain favour for the same man.
This information was said to have been leaked to the Governor of Kaduna, who has decided to abandon the list submitted to him.
