The Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, held a prayer session to mark his 42nd year on the throne.

His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Idris, now  81, rose to the throne  of Zazzau in Zaria, Kaduna State in 1975 at the age of 39, following the demise of Alhaji Muhammadu Aminu, the 17th Emir.

The royal father held a prayer session in Zaria, last night to mark the “rare” occasion.

“I would like to start by thanking Allah. When I assumed the mantle of leadership of this great emirate, I was only 39,” he said.

He added: “Today, I am celebrating 42nd anniversary on the throne. This is a rare privilege.”
