Bamidele David Oleyelogun, the speaker of the Ondo State Assembly has suspended the only member of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, over an abusive text on Whats App.

Leonard Tomide Akinribido, the Deputy Minority leader, elected in 2019, was apparently criticised the speaker in a Whats App group.

Mr Akinribido who is in the same party a former Governor of the state, Segun Mimiko, is not allowed to visit the legislative complex during the course of his suspension.

Social media users have described the move against the young lawmaker as a joke and an offensive against their representative.

“The legislative arm of Ondo State government is taking rascality to an offensive level with the unjutified suspension of @MrTomide,” @Ogbeni_la, wrote on twitter, adding that “The Speaker is advised to retrace his step or face the full wrath of Ondo youths.”

Mr Oleyelogun is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

A governorship election in the state is scheduled to hold on October 10, and the APC’s candidate Rotimi Akeredolu, who is also the incumbent governor has a huge edge over others.
