A  member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who wrote a petition to the Adamawa State Election Petition Tribunal has lost her case.

The case brought by Binta Masi Garba, who challenged the election victory of Elisha Abbo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was dismissed today by the Tribunal for lack of merit.

The Tribunal found that Mrs Garba, a former senator who occupied the seat from 2015 – 2019, did not have enough evidence to support her case.

Mrs Garba, 52, is the first legislator to represent two different states.

From 1999 – 2011, she served as a member of House of Representative representing Kaduna South, but her bid to return to the Senate in 2019 was stopped by Mr Abbo.

Senator Abbo scored 7933 votes while the former lawmaker received 63219 votes.

She petitioned the tribunal for it to sack the new senator, but her case was dismissed. The lead judge, Sulaiman Akanbi, said the case lacked merit.

Mr Abbo recently got entangled in a mess where he was caught on camera slapping a woman at a sex shop.

He celebrated today’s Tribunal judgement, describing it as the will of the people.

“The voice of the people is the voice of Power. We have won our case at the tribunal. We would be forever victorious. Let’s give God the glory all the time. Thank you my people.”

The former lawmaker representing Adamawa North, vied to become President of the eight Senate, but lost.  She lost a lot of her personal staff after the 2015 elections, DENISAURUS News can reveal.

Sources in her camp say those who worked for her, left immediately after the elction because Mrs Garba’s brothers wanted to take over the structures they had built.
