The Federal High Court in Abuja has refused to stop Nyesome Wike, the incumbent Governor from contesting in the Governorship elections scheduled to hold on March 9th.
A suit filed by Elvis Chinda stated that the Gover Wike, a leading member of the Peoples Democratic Party, in Rives State who is seeking a second term forged document he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
In the suit marked FHC / ABJ /CS /1430/2018, the plaintiff claimed that the Governor falsified his age.
But a ruling delivered by Justice Iyang Ekwo refused to grant the prayer of the plantiff, stating that “in our statutes, forgery is a criminal act. It entails the fraudulently making of a forged documents. It is a criminal offence. The onus is on the plaintiff to establish ingredients of the allegation with credible and convincing evidence.
“I find that the plaintiff has not proved allegations against the 1st defendant beyond every reasonable doubt or at all.”
