A rumour of a cloned version of President Muhammadu Buhari walking around Nigeria has been dismissed by the 75-year-old President himself.
According to the rumour being shared on platform such as Whats App, the West African President is dead and is being falsely impersonated by a Jibrin from Sudan.
The President who was in Poland to attend the UN Climate Change Conference, COP24 denied that he was the case.
In an interactive session with Nigerians in Diaspora on Sunday in Krakow, Poland, President Buhari said contrary to the “ignorant rumors” that was being spread on the social media, he had not been cloned.
He said the person leading the country ‘‘It’s real me, I assure you. I will soon celebrate my 76th birthday and I will still go strong.’’
And the President went on to speak about the period in his life when people thought he had died.
In 2017, the Nigerian President went to London to receive treatment, at the time President Buhari who spent over 100 days away from office said that he had never been that ill before.
‘‘A lot of people hoped that I died during my ill health. Some even reached out to the Vice President to consider them to be his deputy because they assumed I was dead,” he said.
“That embarrassed him a lot and of course, he visited me when I was in London convalescing… It’s real me; I assure you.”
