Muiz Banire has been confirmed as the Chairman of the Governing board of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, after a voice vote by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
Dr Banire, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria was nominated for the role by President Muhammadu Buhari on July 18, however, three Senators loyal to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a chieftain from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, tried to block his confirmation.

The lawmakers Gbenga Ashafa (Lagos East), Oluremi Tinubu (Lagos Central) and Olamilekan Solomon (Lagos West), who objected to Mr Banire’s confirmation were asked to submit their petition to the Select Committee on Ethics and Privileges, which was to give a report back to the Senate President.
DENISAURUS News understands that the committee laid it is report today and recommended that Dr Banire be confirmed.
The report which was laid by Senator Rafiu Ibrahim was later put to a voice vote by Senator Saraki, to which colleagues of Mr Ashafa, Mrs Tinubu and Mr Solomon voted resoundingly in favour of Mr Banire’s confirmation.
