Members of the House of Representative have spoken about an incident where the Mace, the symbol of authority was forcefully seized from the Senate.
Ovie Omo-Agege, a lawmaker from Delta state was accused of being behind the plot. Today, a joint ad-hoc committee set up by the lower house recommended that he should be prosecuted.
Betty Apiafi, the representative for Abua/Odual/Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, who chaired the committee said: “Senator Omo-Agege actually asked the security people to allow the men (the thugs) to come in; that was why they came in.
“They came in and forced themselves into the chamber and overpowered the sergeant-at-arms. And you know the security operatives are not allowed into the chambers.”
