#CluelessNigerianPresident Trends On Twitter

As the Nigerian President prepares to meet with his American counterpart today, protests of all sort have begun online.

President Muhammadu Buhari is on a working visit to the United States of America. He departed from Abuja, the capital of Nigeria on Saturday.

The two leaders will have a bilateral meeting and a working lunch on Monday 30th April 2018.

But, prior to the meeting, a hashtag #CluelessNigerianPresident has started to trend on Twitter.

This follows months of discontent over President Buhari’s slow reaction to the herdsmen crisis that has killed hundreds of people in Nigeria’s North-Central.

A twitter user wants President Donald Trump to caution the 75-year-old Nigerian President, whose Fulani kinsmen have carried out most of the killing.

“Please thread with caution in handing military warefare to Buhari, he has worse human right violation record. #CluelessNigerianPresident,” BONA LEO @bonaleo4u wrote.

Another user, Oluyemi Fasipe, @YemieFASH said “Under the watch of President @MBuhari the #CluelessNigerianPresident over 10milion Nigerians have lost their job as a result of his harsh economic policies.”

A petition calling on the impeachment of President Buhari has also been circulating online since Friday. So far, almost 10,000 people have signed it.
