The Spanish government has withdrawn a European arrest warrant for Catalonia’s sacked leader Carles Puigdemont and others who ran out of the country after the regional parliament declared unilateral independence.
Four ministers, including Mr Puigdemont, who fled with the former leader to Belgium, are willing to return to to Spain to participate in regional elections on December 21st, the court said.
Following their decision to return, Judge Pablo Llarena, decided to withdraw the warrant.
However, Court sources have said that all five would be detained upon arrival in the country.
