There was loud cheering for Fuad Atanda-Lawal, as he was declared winner of the recently concluded chairmanship election of Ikoyi / Obalende Local Council Development Area, LCDA.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress Congress, APC, who received the majority number of votes was given a standing ovation from the crowd at the collation centre.
The new Chairman received 7,112 votes. His closest opposition who was from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, got only 756 votes.
The election proved that there was still support for the APC in Lagos.
The party has won 14 local government announced so far, including Lagos Island East where it received 9,060 votes; 4,631 in Onigbongbo and 8,476 in Ejigbo LCDA.
