Queen Condoles With Victims Of Manchester Attack

Queen Elizabeth II has expressed her ‘deepest sympathy’ to all those affected by the Manchester bomb attack.

She said: “The whole nation has been shocked by the death and injury in Manchester last night of so many people, adults and children, who had just been enjoying a concert.

“I know I speak for everyone in expressing my deepest sympathy to all who have been affected by this dreadful event and especially to the families and friends of those who have died or were injured.

“I want to thank all the members of the emergency services, who have responded with such professionalism and care.

“And I would like to express my admiration for the way the people of Manchester have responded, with humanity and compassion, to this act of barbarity.”Her statement comes moment before the police announced that it has arrested a 23-year-old man in relations to the attack which took place as fans – including children and teenagers, left a concert by  US singer Ariana Grande.

The attacker, whose identity is known to enforcement agents, died along with 22 people. 59 others were left injured.

Georgina Callander, an 18-year-old was the first victim to be named.

A one minute silence will be held at Buckingham Palace in memory of the victims.

A vigil is expected to take place at the Manchester’s Albert Square at 6pm today.
