‘Senator Adeleke Came, He Conquered, He Achieved’ – Hon. E.J Agbonayinma

Lawmakers held a one minute silence this morning, in honour of a colleague, Senator Isiaka Adeleke who died on Sunday.

As the silence ended, the senate President, Bukola Saraki adjourned Plenary to Wednesday 26th April, 2017.

A book of condolence has been opened in memory of the Osun West representative who also served as the first civilian governor of the state.

The speaker of the House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara announced that the House will shut till 11 am.

This announcement was also made on the @HouseNGR official twitter account.  “In line with the established tradition, the House has now adjourned until tomorrow at 11 a.m. due to the bereavement.”

Senator Adeleke, an uncle to the popular Afrobeat artist, Davido,  who was last spotted at an event on Saturday night, suffered a heart attack and died at an hospital in Osogbo – the Osun state capital.

He was buried yesterday after a post-mortem examination, also known as an autopsy was conducted to ascertain the cause of his death.

President Muhammadu Buhari who commiserated with Osun State Government and members of the National Assembly on Adeleke’s death, prayed “that the Almighty God will grant the soul of the departed eternal rest, and comfort the family.”

Hon. Nkiru Onyejeocha paid tribute to “a mentor”,  who ate and drank with the downtrodden.”

The 47-year-old who represents Isuikwato/Umunneochi, Abia State went on to describe Sen. Adeleke as a “gentleman whose love knows no doubts and a lover of the poor”.

Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma who represents Egor/Ikpoba-okha said: “Senator Adeleke came, he conquered, he achieved. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
