The senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio has come out to strongly deny being the chief sponsor of the proposed nationwide protest being organised by a popular singer.
Innocent Ujah Idibia, 41, popularly known as Tuface or 2Baba is planning to lead a nationwide protest against the government on February 6th.
The African Queen crooner whose wedding took place in Dubai is said to have received “2 SUVs” from the former Governor of Akwa Ibom, Senator Akpabio.
He was also said to have received “47 million Naira from the former Senate President, David Mark,”also a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
A leading newspaper in Nigeria, accused the award winning singer, who is said to have benefitted from officials linked to the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, of leading the protest on behalf of his political sponsors.
“The mischievous attempt to drag the name of Senator Akpabio into the planned protest should be discountenanced as the handiwork of political jobbers,” the representative for Akwa Ibom North-West (Ikot Ekpene) said in a statement released by Anietie Ekong, his spokesperson.
