Magu’s Denial of DSS Allegation To US Envoy Was A Ruse

The rejected chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Mustafa Magu claims to have meet the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, this month.

Mr Magu whose nomination as substantive chairman of the anti-graft commission was rejected by the Senate on Thursday, 15, 2016, due to an indicting report by the Department of State Security, DSS, hopes the visit to W. Stuart Symington and his key staff at the US embassy would convince President Muhammadu Buhari, PMB, to keep him in the job, in spite of the report that proves the allegation of corruption against him.

The President directed the Attorney-General of Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN to order an inquiry over the matter.

Mr Malami following the instruction of President Buhari ordered Mr Magu to provide a report within 48 hours.

DENISAURUS News can authoritatively state that Mr Magu failed to provide the report at the time stated by the AGF.

But according to a mainstream newspaper, which is very supportive of Mr Magu, the acting boss went ahead to exonerate himself before Mr Symington.

A source told DENISAURUS News: “Mr Magu’s denial to the US envoy is a complete and total ruse.”

In his view, “Mr Magu’s case is like catching a thief with the loot in their hand yet they are still denying that they have stolen.”

The source who said that the DSS report is concrete evidence against Mr Magu, called on the embassy not to entertain Mr Magu who allegedly came to them to deny accusation from the report.

“Why would anyone take an intelligence report written by a security outfit like the DSS lightly? This is what Mr Symington has done.

“Mr Magu is telling lots of lies and hoping that Nigerians (most of whom I believe are easily fooled) will believe. He is so desperate to head the operation he thinks he can hide all the evidence against him by hoodwinking the nation to his side.

“He does this by repeating this lie about ‘corruption fighting back’ over and over again hoping it sticks,” the top government official added.

According to our source, Mr Magu has a group of friends who are desperately pushing for his confirmation, even after the DSS found him unfit because he failed an integrity test.

DENISAURUS News has put together a list of those pushing for Mr Magu’s confirmation, despite the damning DSS report.

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu – Mallam Ribadu, who served as the Executive Chair of the EFCC, between 2003 and 2007, failed to set up an Assets Forfeiture Unit hence the assets recovered during his tenure were unaccounted for.

Mallam Ribadu who contested for the Governorship election in Adamawa state, under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party, was accused of benefiting from a slush cash provided from the Arms Deal. It is believed that Mr Magu is helping to cover this up.

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume – The Senator for Borno South, is from the same state as Mr Magu. He has been charged over his alleged links with Boko Haram.

His wife is currently being investigated by operatives of the agency. Mr Magu has promised to drop the case if he guarantees his confirmation.

Maj-Gen Babagana Monguno, Rtd – Mr Magu’s Godfather who is enmeshed in several high profile corruption cases including the usurping of Peace Keeping troops allowance, is said to have brought in his Godson Mr Magu to cover this investigation in their tracks.

A source at the military made claims that “most of the diverted government funds by Gen. Monguno were converted to dollars, and that is what he used to purchase several illegal houses in Nigeria, one of which is at David Jemibewon Street, Apo, Abuja.”

Alhaji Baba Gana Kingibe – This paper discovered that Alhaji Kingibe’s in law named, Hon Shehu Sale Hassan also a Son of the former National Chairman Defunct DPN, Alhaji Saleh Hassan has a case of defrauding Skye Bank.

Mr Olukoyede is in the habit of taking the anti-graft agency’s boss to marabouts. The most recent being a visit to Sat Guru Maharj Ji at Ibadan, Oyo state.

Top Senior Government Official – This Top Senior Government Official sent a letter to the Chief of Staff to the President demanding he forwards Mr Magu’s name to NASS for confirmation, despite not conducting the required security check on Mr Magu.

Staff Complain Of Sexual Harassment

In the meantime, a female EFCC managerial core staff has complained about how Mr Magu was sexually harassing her in the office.

The staff said, “Mr Magu who knows that I am a married woman, has approached me several times to ask that we start dating.”

Another scenario is a senior female EFCC managerial staff who cautioned Mr Magu, on the injustice against few whistle blowers, whom he suspended and denied salaries for over a year now, was transferred to a state office of the agency to work under a junior seconded policeman.

Other staff have also accused Mr Magu of harassment in the past. When one of the junior female staff threatened to speak out, Mr Magu accused her of fraternising with a former Governor from the North Central.

Three sets of Regular Cadets of the EFCC had been due for promotion since three year-ago, but Mr Magu has refused to get them moved to the next rank, neither did he allow for interviews to be conducted.

Apparently, Mr Magu of EFCC has wade off any issue regarding the promotion of the regular staff of EFCC, without any rationale. But he allowed for the promotion of his police colleagues whom he subsequently placed above the EFCC core staff.
